My life as an entrepreneur started when I was 5 years old. I started a little business selling handmade pictures to my neighbors.
My dad, who was a natural leader and true entrepreneur, ran the family moving business, Steinway Movers. When I was 8 years old, I’d accompany him on moving jobs. My job was to deliver buttered rolls to all the moving men.
Years later, in high school, when I participated in a project about careers, I knew I would follow in my Dad’s footsteps. I told my teacher, "I’m going to be an entrepreneur."
As a senior at Bethany College, with my major in psychology and my minor in business, I decided to check out the possibilities offered at the career center office. Northeastern University in Boston had a Masters Degree program in Career/Human Resource Counseling. That would equip me to work with corporations and their employees. I’d found the perfect way to integrate my leadership skills and my love for making a positive difference in people’s lives! I remember calling my parents to tell them, "I’ve figured it out. I now know what I want to do!"
My coaching business, Benatti Training and Development, was a natural evolution from my experience at Gillette and my advanced coaching training. I used my maiden name, Benatti, as a way to honor my dad, a true leader. He was definitely the inspiration to start my own business.
When Gillette was acquired by Procter & Gamble, many of my clients moved to other Boston organizations. I assisted with the transition and had the opportunity to expand my scope of services to a new and exciting diverse market.
My clients include individuals, small businesses, non-profits and organizations such as Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Ariadne Labs, The Gillette Company, and Bright Horizons.
As a leadership coach, I work with individuals to strengthen their leadership and communication skills, enhance their ability to manage conflict, and improve their working relationships at all levels of the organization. My clients would say that I’m also a career recharge or resiliency coach because everyone I work with learns the Benatti Resiliency Model. This proprietary model helps individuals build their resiliency and ability to cope with change and enhance their engagement and impact.
The training component of my business gives me the opportunity to offer my success strategies to more than just individuals. I design corporate programs and training sessions on personal branding and career recharge. I also provide teams and departments with ways to increase productivity, resilience, and collaboration, using a unique application of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator with my clients.
I enjoy owning my business and devoting my work hours to my clients. I’m also very involved with my family, my community, and the activities of my two daughters. I’ve been a Girl Scout leader for over fifteen years and continue to share with scouts the importance of leadership and having a vision at a young age. To recharge and tend to body, mind, and soul, I make time for yoga, friends, travel and exercise.
Sometimes people ask me what I do best. My answer is, “I use my ability to illuminate the maximum potential in each person, helping them accomplish their goals and achieve success.” I am thankful for the past twenty years of my business and cannot imagine doing anything else for my career. I hope to have an opportunity to work with you or your organization to Spark Success!
